Symposium with Finnish star cast

The Verus Bonifatius Private Clinic and the Singularity Academy bring psychiatrist Dr Ben Furman to Bad Salzschlirf

On 4 November 2023, the Kulturkessel in Bad Salzschlirf – true to its name – brought cultures together. Finnish psychiatrist Dr Ben Furman, who is known in professional circles far beyond the borders of his home country for his ‘I can do it!’ programme, fascinated his audience in the Hessian spa town with his concept and lively presentation style.

Last year, the Verus Bonifatius Private Clinic and the Singularity Academy from Switzerland brought the Dutch Marte Meo© founder Maria Aarts to Germany. This year, the focus shifted even further north – with complete success!

‘We are proud that we were able to win Dr Ben Furman for a symposium,’ says Doctor-medic Mild, specialist in psychiatry and psychotherapy and head physician at the Verus Bonifatius Private Clinic. Dr Ben Furman’s concept is aimed at learning skills – rather than solving problems. Under the heading ‘Solution-focused work with families, children and individuals’, the Finnish psychiatrist shed light on his approach in various settings. He presented the fifteen steps of his ‘I can do it!’ programme – illustrated by video examples from practice. Everyone in attendance, whether a professional audience or participants with private interests, was able to take something away for themselves. ‘As we all realised, it can be enormously enriching if we work together and interact with each other in a resource- and solution-oriented way,’ said Doctor-medic Mild after the second half of the event, in which the knowledge previously imparted with Finnish charm was applied intensively in small groups.

The positive feedback from participants also pleased the Managing Director of the Verus Bonifatius Private Clinic, founded in 2021, Ms Dörfner, who also sees the high-quality symposium as a gain for the region. „As a private acute clinic for psychiatry and psychotherapy, we not only offer patients a point of contact, but also see it as our mission to pass on specialist knowledge. We do this at a low-threshold level in our free themed evenings or once a year with a major specialist event in the Kulturkessel in Bad Salzschlirf, where we welcomed Maria Aarts in 2022 and Dr Ben Furman in 2023.“

The Verus Bonifatius Private Clinic and the Singularity Academy, as organisers of the two previous symposia, are keen to continue this still young tradition of specialist events. However, anyone who would like to know the topic and date for 2024 now will have to be patient.
