Therapy approaches for burn-out & exhaustion syndrome
In addition to individually adapted medication, psychotherapeutic treatment is an ideal form of therapy for burnout syndrome. It can help those affected to be prepared for setbacks and to cope with them better. In addition, communication with a knowledgeable staff member can help address concerns. Therapeutic care can also be a kind of emotional support for those affected.
Symptoms of Burn-Out & Fatigue Syndrome
To date, more than 100 signs of burnout are already known, many of which also occur in other psychosomatic disorders. The best-known feeling for those affected is “being burnt out”, which many patients describe as a permanent state of low or no energy, which they cannot seem to get rid of even after long and repeated breaks.
The most common symptoms are:
- Exhaustion
- Lack of energy
- constant fatigue
- Sleep disorders
- reduced performance
- Concentration and memory problems
- Decision-making incapacity
- Reduced initiative and imagination
- more frequent colds
- Muscle tension
- Sleep disorders
- Breathing difficulties
- Tightness in the chest
- Dizziness
- Stomach and intestinal complaints
- Headache
HOW IS A BURNOUT EXHAUSTION SYMPTOM DIAGNOSED?
As the multitude of non-specific symptoms already shows, the diagnosis of a burnout syndrome is extremely complex for the patient and the treating doctor. Here, too – similar to other psychosomatic disorders – a comprehensive counselling and anamnesis interview with psychotherapists takes place. The focus here is primarily on the explanation and description by the patient, because only in this way can a meaningful diagnosis be made. This is also followed by some research to support their explanations.
