THERAPEUTIC APPROACHES FOR TRAUMA AND ACUTE STRESS DISORDERS
Early diagnosis and comprehensive treatment are essential in overcoming post-traumatic stress disorder. The treatment itself can be carried out on an outpatient basis – in combination with individual therapy sessions – or on an inpatient basis, if the patient wishes. First, the professionally trained staff will inform the patients in detail about the disease, if possible with the involvement of the family or other caregivers, and suggest a suitable therapy concept. The therapy itself consists mainly of psychotherapy, which focuses on the traumatic experiences of the past. In some cases, those affected also have to take medication in order to maintain their psychosocial level.
Once the patients are sufficiently stabilised, the traumatic experiences and the associated memories must be dealt with step by step.
SYMPTOMS OF TRAUMA AND ACUTE STRESS DISORDERS

DIAGNOSIS OF TRAUMA AND ACUTE STRESS DISORDERS
If there is a possibility that a patient has been affected by trauma, a comprehensive medical consultation with a detailed anamnesis takes place. The trained professionals ask the patients to explain the symptoms in detail and to explain the clinical picture. Therapists can be guided by different criteria that are specifically classified for the history of mental disorders, such as post-traumatic disorder.
