THERAPEUTIC APPROACHES FOR ANXIETY & PANIC DISORDERS

As with many psychosomatic disorders, the same applies to anxiety disorders: The sooner sufferers visit a doctor’s office, the sooner the success of the treatment and the prospect of recovery become apparent. The different therapy options for a psychosomatic disorder can be combined very well. With such a behavioural therapy, significant progress could be achieved within two years. Nevertheless, the healing process of a psychosomatic disorder also includes willpower and motivation. Affected people who have been given comprehensive information by the caring professionals are also better able to recognise their complaints and their fear.

SYMPTOMS OF ANXIETY & PANIC DISORDERS

People who suffer from anxiety and panic disorder go into panic attacks in stressful or exceptional situations. Although the duration of panic attacks can vary greatly, most panic attacks do not last longer than 30 min. The frequency of these seizure-like attacks varies just as much – from several times a day monthly.

DIAGNOSIS OF ANXIETY & PANIC DISORDER

The diagnosis of a potential anxiety disorder begins with a detailed medical history. In a comprehensive discussion with the person affected and the attending physician, the nature and effects of the symptoms should be clarified. In such a meeting (discussion), the doctor must also rule out any physical causes for the complaints. The presence of other, already diagnosed mental illnesses is also asked about and discussed. There is also the possibility that additional examinations will follow to clarify the symptoms.
